James "Zach" DeFoor

Zach was born and raised in Bolivar, Tennessee. After graduating high school, he attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. After a few years of working in the restaurant industry, he decided to make a career as an attorney at law.

 

He attended St. Thomas University School of Law in Miami Gardens, Florida, graduating from a three year program a full semester early. After graduating, Zach relocated back to Knoxville, Tennessee to begin his career. He spent two years practicing family law and criminal defense before relocating to Charlotte, North Carolina to lead the Bankruptcy division of a law firm that specialized in mortgage creditor rights.

 

In 2017, he returned to Tennessee and settled in Jackson, where he has practiced consumer rights, tenant rights, and victims of domestic violence obtain divorces and orders of protection from their abusers. He also worked for the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services, the Tennessee District Attorney General’s office and the Tennessee Public Defender’s office before returning to private practice.

 

Zach is a very knowledgeable and aggressive attorney with exceptional negotiation skills. He represents his clients with professionalism and will advocate for the best possible outcome, no matter the legal issue.
